Salomon Sponsorship Open for Elite Skiers

Endurance Enterprises has announced the opening of the application process for the 2008-09 Salomon Athlete Force sponsorship program. Salomon will provide various levels of support for qualifying athletes participating in cross country skiing, biathlon and Nordic combined. Coaches and “hometown heroes” are also considered.

The program has five different levels of support available to athletes who both apply and are accepted. At the lowest level, called bronze, cross country skiers must have a top nine USSA ranking in their age category, have earned All American status at JOs, finished in the top 45 in the SuperTour, or meet one of the other qualifications.

Top level, or plantinum, support is reserved for those who scored world cup points in the previous season.

Nordic combined athletes seeking bronze support must have made the Junior World Team the previous season. Biathletes must have been named to a 2008 World Championship team.

Bronze support consists of race skis and/or boots and bindings near wholesale pricing. The next level, silver, includes skis and/or boots and bindings below wholesale pricing and the next category, ZIOlit, includes equipment at substantially below wholesale prices. Gold and platinum levels include complimentary skis and/or boots and bindings.

The top three categories are available for such accomplishments as winning an event at the Junior Olympics, finishing in the top 25 in SuperTour standings or in the top three of an American Ski Marathon Series event.

“The Salomon Athlete Force pipeline has been instrumental in helping top U.S. athletes,” says Andy Gerlach of Endurance Enterprises, “including over half of the present U.S. Ski Team. Salomon Athlete Force members won more events at the 2008 U.S. National Championships than any other ski and/or boot brand.”

Coaches and “hometown heroes” must demonstrate significant influence with a certain number of consumers to qualify for support and be nominated by a Salomon retailer.

Interested athletes and coaches must apply by April 30, 2008. Applications are available at www.dreamofit.com.
