Whitewoods

The 307L is matched with the Wildwood -- wide short ski that comes in three sizes: 160, 170 and 180 cm. The skis have a softer ladies camber with a negative cut waxless base. The Wildwood offers a stable platform with a sidecut 68-60-65. The package also includes a pair of NNN Auto (T-3) bindings and Wildwood 6K Poles. The 6000 series aluminum adjustable pole has a dual density grip. It also has a built-in anti shock mechanism for walking and can add a Nordic walking foot over the tip.

From in-track or backyard touring to backcountry skiing, Whitewoods saw the need to provide a simple solution to the benefits of using gaiters. For 2007-2008, Whitewoods will introduce the Integrated Nordic Gaiter (ING). The waterproof ING system keeps the snow out of the skier’s boots and keeps legs warmer and drier.

The Whitewoods ING system is a 12-inch waterproof Supplex gaiter sewn into the upper of the boot, eliminating the need for complicated traditional gaiter strings or clips. As a full gaiter, the ING zips up the front after the boot is put on and then is sealed with a full line of Velcro up the front. An elastic drawstring and cordlock secure the top around the calf. A dual elastic band symmetrically seals the bottom against the tongue of the boot. An easy-to-attach hook secures the front onto the nearest lace. The ING system can also be easily converted to an in-track snow collar by simply releasing the elastic calf drawstring and rolling the gaiter down to the ankle. A second internal drawstring now becomes available to secure the snow collar around the ankle.

The new Whitewoods NNN models 704L and 705 come with the new Integrated Nordic Gaiter. The boots also have waterproof and breathable panels on the upper for moisture management in the footbed. Moisture vapor from inside the boot, which can cause cold feet, travels out while the waterproof membrane keeps feet dry. The boots also include 200 grams of Thinsulate.

Whitewoods has improved its LTX pole for 2007-08. The LTX, constructed of 6061 aluminum, is a three-piece telescopic pole that includes an anti-shock with a lockout. To lock it out, the pole is fully extended and turned back one click. It has a larger grip with a full neopreme hand and adjustable neopreme strap.

The Whitewoods GTX, the company’s top-end pole, is made from a 50 percent graphite composite.

Whitewoods also tweaks its snowshoe line for the coming season. Its LT shoe uses 6000 series aluminum, polyethylene decking and thicker, more aggressive crampons. It is packaged in a storage bag/backpack.

For those evening tours, Whitewoods also offers 7 and 14 LED Headlamps powered by three AAA batteries. Each has three intensity settings and a flasher option.
