U.S. Men Miss
Ski Jumping Final

WHISTLER OLYMPIC PARK, BC (Feb. 20) – Peter Frenette (Saranac Lake, NY) narrowly missed out on his first Olympic final round at just 17 years old, finishing 32nd, just out of the top-30 which qualified for a second jump in Saturday's large hill first round. Nick Alexander (Lebanon, NH) finished 40th, eight places back.

"This has been exciting and fun," said Frenette, who said speeds on the hill were low today. "It's inspiring to see all of the U.S. athletes get medals, and hopefully the next Olympics, I'll be right there."

Frenette said he didn't come in with any expectations of a medal bid and was very happy with his performance.

"It played out just like I thought," he said.

"It's my first big international competition that I'm competing in, so it's good experience no matter what."

Frenette's jump scored 90.6, while Alexander lacked his usual style and speed in netting a 79.2. Anders Johnson (Park City, UT) missed out on qualifying for the first round on Friday.
