The Fine Art of Sking

Welcome to our sixth annual journey into the world of cross country skiing as seen through the eyes of talented artists from across the country.

We continue to discover great artistic talent with widely varying styles and use of media. Our array of artists and their respective techniques is truly diverse. In this edition we see a familiar image — the Birkebeiner warriors, rendered in a refreshing new way as a simple line drawing. And for the first time we feature the non-traditional styles of Polaroid manipulation and tabletop technique.

It continues to be our pleasure to bring you these artistic impressions of Nordic skiing. Enjoy.

This year we also decided to add a new dimension to our Fine Art feature — poetry. We think this adds a nice complement to our array of two-dimensional art.

Finally, we’d like to take this opportunity to announce our first annual Cross Country Skier Photography Contest. If you’re a budding photographer or just happen to be in the right place at the right time, we encourage you to submit your work according to the information that follows this feature.
