To help promote the 2010 AXCS National Masters slated for the Craftsbury Outdoor Center in Craftsbury, Vermont (January 28-30, 2010) American XC Skiers (AXCS) is excited to introduce the 2010 National Masters Club Challenge.
The 2010 Club Challenge is a very simple concept designed specifically to encourage clubs to participate as a group at the National Masters event -- particularly the Thursday, January 28 10km FS National Masters Championship.
Every skier that registers and participates in the NM2010 10km event under a specific club name (example: "Florida XC Masters") will count towards that club's total within the NM2010 Club Challenge. The club that has the most amount of skiers (minimum 5 skiers required) take part in the NM2010 10km event will win a packet of $10 off certificates good towards 2010/2011 AXCS membership -- one each for every club skier taking part in the 10km (up to a limit of 25 skiers or $250 total in certificates).
Since AXCS recognizes that clubs in the immediate New England area will have a distinct advantage in this Club Challenge, a second Club Challenge award of up to $50 total in AXCS certificates will be offered to the club outside the NENSA region that has the most skiers (minimum 3 skiers required) take part in the National Masters 10km Championship event.
No race results will be used to determine the Club Challenge winning clubs. Skiers simply need to register and start the 10km FS to be counted towards the final tally. So every club member -- no matter what age or ability -- counts!
The $10 off certificates will be transferable so club skiers with extended AXCS membership already can pass on their certificate to a friend. One certificate per skier.
