Perspective: The Art of Cross Country

Bryan Schaeffer is an animator and illustrator who’s been involved with plenty of design projects for big tech companies. But artwork involving outdoor spaces tends to occupy most of the doodles done by this Bozeman, Montana-based skier. Since publishing a coloring book in March, Discover Montana Treasures, he’s been working on another side project that combines his interest in skiing and art. His new book, The Last Best Ski, which he plans to release in December, is part guidebook, part how-to and part history of Montana skiing, and is entirely illustrated.

On the heels of a season unlike any other, with teams forgoing weeks of international competition, World Cups postponed and canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic and women’s Nordic combined being held on its highest-ever stage, this year’s Worlds are set to showcase thrilling racing.
